Physical Education
"You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take" Wayne Gretzky
Our P.E programme embodies inclusiveness from the beginning of Year 7, through to Year 11, enriching school life and allowing every student the opportunity to develop pride and self-confidence, regardless of gender, age or ability. It is imperative to deliver a PE curriculum that is both accessible and enjoyable to students of all ages and abilities in order to engage their curiosity into challenging themselves outside the comfort of the classroom. This encourages opportunity to discover new experiences and skills in an open environment. This discovery of new talent experienced outside the usual comfort zone reinforces the desire to challenge oneself further.
At the heart of all lessons lie various opportunities to allow students to develop a sense of identity and ownership over a variety of skills that encompass not only a focus on the physical but on the leadership and social skills that develop an individuals’ confidence and self-esteem. We value the individuality of each child and reinforce the importance of all students valuing that individuality in others. Students with very differing abilities are all encouraged to find their area of passion within practical situations.
We aim to build strength of character through promoting:
- Active, passionate and engaged learners who are developing better moral, physical, spiritual, emotional and social habits and dispositions.
- Confident, aspirational and resilient young members of our community.
- Students who embody and model our values of, kindness, inclusion, pride and community.
- Student leaders via the EPHS sports and holistic leadership ladder, developing leadership skills and traits across subjects, groups, year groups, whole school and beyond.
