Expansion of Ellesmere Park High School: Exciting Plans for the Future 

Consilium Academies is thrilled to announce the upcoming expansion of Ellesmere Park High School, as we work to meet the growing demand for student places in the local community. As the school continues to thrive and attract more students, this expansion will ensure that the school can accommodate an additional 150 students starting from September 2025. We will ensure that this aligns with our commitment to providing high-quality education to even more students, reflecting our dedication to supporting the evolving needs of our communities. 

 

The Need for Expansion 

Due to the school’s increasing popularity and the rapid expansion of the surrounding community in recent years, applications for places at Ellesmere Park High School are currently exceeding the available capacity. In response to this challenge, Salford City Council approached Consilium Academies. 

 

The school was tasked with determining how to expand in a way that aligns with its vision and enhances its provisions. To address this, a feasibility study was commissioned to assess various options. After careful consideration, it was agreed that a three-storey extension would be the best solution, adding 548m² of space.This extension will include new classrooms and supporting facilities, providing the necessary room for an additionalThe expansion is expected to be completed by September 2026, with six new classrooms, eight additional toilets, a staircase, and a dining room extension. The project will also include enhanced art facilities, with art being at the heart of the school’s curriculum, as well as new IT classrooms to support students in the fast-changing world of technology and innovation. These new facilities will ensure students are equipped with the skills needed for the future. 

 

The Proposal 

The proposed project will permanently increase the school’s capacity by 150 student places over the next five This will be a phased development, with the first stages of work set to commence in April or early May 2025. The first phase will focus on the dining room extension, followed by the construction of classrooms and additional facilities. 

Key Timescales: 

• Contractor starting on-site: End of April/Start of May 2025 

• Dining Extension Complete: September 2025 

• Works on Extension at the Back of the Building: September 2025 

• Full Works Complete: July 2026 

• Opening of New Facilities: August 2026

Our Health and Safety professionals will be closely monitoring the project to ensure that staff and students' safety is always our top priority.
