Ellesmere Park Expansion Project 2025/2026

We are thrilled to share some exciting news—the first phase of a major school development project is officially underway! This marks a significant step in enhancing our facilities and creating a more welcoming, functional space for students and staff.

As part of Phase 1, we will be expanding the dining area to improve capacity and comfort, as well as installing a temporary modular building adjacent to the Sports Hall to support additional students for the school. The modular building will house 2 classrooms and will be in place for a year whilst the larger expansion work takes place.

The most important aspect of this project continues to be ensuring our students remain safe.  Our team has worked tirelessly to ensure that student safety remains paramount as well as minimise disruption to the school.

Phase 1 will consist of several key stages, including:

  • Excavation work for improved drainage
  • Installation of a steel frame for the new structure
  • Strategic planning to minimize disruption—especially during the current exam period. Noisy construction activities will be scheduled outside of exam hours to provide students with a quiet environment for their studies.

We are delighted to be partnering with MC Construction, a locally based company with extensive experience in school projects. Their expertise ensures a high-quality and efficient process that aligns with our goals.

We understand that construction work in a school setting requires extra care and attention. That’s why we have established clear segregation measures, ensuring that the contractor compound is completely blocked off from student areas. This ensures that learning and movement around the school continue as smoothly as possible whilst providing appropriate separation of the works and school operations.

Beyond the physical improvements to our school, this project presents an exciting opportunity to inspire the next generation of professionals in the construction industry. With contractors on-site, we are incorporating career-focused engagement into the project, offering students valuable insight into the world of construction.

Here’s what students can look forward to:

  • Work experience placements for hands-on learning
  • Specialist workshops, including a dedicated “Females in Construction” session
  • Construction Based Activity during work experience week

As we finalise plans, we will keep students informed and share details on how they can get involved—so stay tuned for updates! Additionally, students interested in the construction process will have the chance to hear directly from the site manager about the work being carried out.

Looking Ahead: Phase 2 & Future Updates

This development is just the beginning! Phase 2 of the project is scheduled to begin during the summer holidays, ensuring continued improvements to our facilities. Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing visual updates and further details on both Phase 1 progress and upcoming plans for Phase 2.

We are incredibly excited about these developments and remain committed to making Ellesmere Park High School an inspiring place to learn. Watch this space for updates as we continue this exciting journey!
