Congratulations Mr Weir !
Congratulations to Mr Weir on his appointment to the TRG.
Jonathan Weir, Head of ICT at Ellesmere Park High School and a Consilium Leader of Education, has been successful in his application to join the Department of Education’s (DfE)Teacher Reference Group (TRG).
The TRG acts as a confidential sounding board, which advises on the potential impact of policies on the school system, including any barriers to implementation of policy. The TRG supports policy development and its implementation across the DfE by contributing views, offering valuable challenge and advice, and providing feedback to ministers and officials.
Mr Weir’s appointment is even more special since there are only 11 members of the Teacher Reference Group across England and the competition to sit on the group is strong. As part of his application, Mr Weir had to demonstrate how he had used effective teaching methods in the classroom and the impact these had on improving educational outcomes for all students, as well as showing how he had used data and evidence to inform teaching and school level decisions.
Mr Weir is already an integral member of Consilium Academies and Ellesmere Park High School. As a Consilium Leader of Education (CLE), he works across the Trust providing expert advice, support, and sharing best practice with all our schools. Mr Weir and our other CLEs also lead their cross-trust subject networks, and work closely with Education Advisers and the Head of Professional Development and Research, to deliver training in school. In his role Mr Weir has been helping with school improvement across the Trust, and now as part of his role in the TRG he will be able to add a strong voice from Consilium Academies to policy and implementation across the wider education sector.
Mr Weir’s appointment to the TRG is for one year with the opportunity to extend this for a further three years. We are incredibly proud of him and are extremely thankful to have such a fantastic role model as a member of our Trust.
Congratulations Mr Weir!
