Parental Permissions/ Consent

There are activities in school for which we require parent/carer consent. To ensure that we hold the correct information for your child, please can you review the consent information held within the Arbor Parent app and indicate your consent/no consent accordingly.

Any consent can no longer be implied and must be given in writing by the parent and the student following their 13th birthday. It can be withdrawn at any time by contacting the school or updating your preferences via the Arbor Parent app.

Photographs

We take photographs of all students for identification purposes under our legal obligation to provide education and for safeguarding purposes. These photographs are only available to staff and may be offered to you for purchase by our contracted photographer at the time they are taken.

Occasionally, we may take photographs of our students during school activities both inside and outside school. To comply with the Data Protection Regulations, we need your consent before we can use any such images or video. We will not use student surnames alongside photographs without additional permission. Occasionally we are visited by the media who will take photographs and video of an event. This consent will be valid for the period of time your child attends the school.

Medication

The administration of Paracetamol will only be considered in exceptional circumstances. Any student in need of a Paracetamol will need to first speak with their Head of Year to discuss whether there is a definite need for medication. The student must have their own supply kept safely in a locked cabinet in the main Reception, and they will only be given out with parent/carer's written consent. You will receive a text message to inform you if your child has been given Paracetamol at school, stating the time and reason for administration. Pupils are not permitted to carry Paracetamol or any other medication around with them unless otherwise agreed by our Medical Co-ordinator.

Biometrics

The school uses a biometric cashless catering system to allow your child to pay for any purchases from the canteen. This system incorporates the latest technology, is a fast, efficient way of identifying students and eliminates the need to carry cash throughout the day. As Parents/Carers you need to give consent for the school to use biometric information from your child to identify them. Biometrics is simply a method of identifying an individual person. The data collected is an algorithm containing several measurements via a fingerprint scanner and not an actual fingerprint. This biometric information will only be used to pay for food at school and all data is held securely on site. This data cannot be used by any other agency for any other purpose. We adhere to the DfE advice provided at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/protection-of-biometric-information-of-children-in-schools If you choose not to have your child registered, the school will provide alternative methods of identification (a swipe card). However, the preference of the school is to use biometrics, as this is more secure and faster than any other method of identification. Once your child ceases to use the biometric recognition system, his/her fingerprint will be securely deleted by the school.
