School of Sanctuary
The motto of our school is Vibrant, Inclusive, Proud. These are the principles that we believe we should embrace in everything we do. An essential part of this is to ensure that our school is a welcoming, inclusive and safe place for all students.
Ellesmere Park High School is an accredited 'School of Sanctuary'
School of Sanctuary is a nationwide initiative supporting schools to foster a culture of welcome and inclusion and offering refuge to those who need it. It also aims to equip all of our students with intercultural skills and the ability to have compassion in what is, for many, a turbulent world.
A School of Sanctuary is a school that helps its students, staff and the wider community understand what it means to be seeking sanctuary and to extend a welcome to everyone as equal, valued members of the school community. It is a school that is proud to be a place of safety and inclusion for all. It is important to us to ensure that there is space for those whose lives may be in danger in their own country, who have troubles at home or are just looking for somewhere where they can feel safe. We are committed to being a safe and welcoming place for anyone seeking sanctuary.
In the coming months there will be many ways in which our students will gain an understanding of the School of Sanctuary principles including lessons, assemblies and guest speakers. We will keep you up to date with our progress via the school website.
